Advanced maternal age at first delivery as a risk factor for long-term cardiovascular disease

This population-based cohort study examined whether advanced maternal age (AMA) at first delivery is associated with long-term cardiovascular disease (CVD). Among over 47,000 primiparous women, first delivery at age 35 and older—especially over 40—was linked to a significantly higher incidence of hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and vascular events. Even after adjusting for confounders, AMA remained independently associated with increased long-term cardiovascular risk, emphasizing the need for targeted prevention and follow-up.
