Organ Transplants – The Situation in the World

Most laws in the Western world include specific clauses against organ trading. Austria is the only country in Europe in which organ trading is specifically prohibited.

However, granting financial consideration for organ donation, from a live or deceased donor, beyond compensation to the donor with respect to expenses incurred, is not mentioned in legislation in Western countries.

A short review of the issue as it is institutionalized in several countries is presented below:
