Structure of the World Fellowship

The Central Board. Israeli members are elected by the national convention of the Israel
Medical Association and its foreign members are elected by their local chapters for a period
of four years. The number of committee members is limited to 12, with at least half are Israeli
and the managing president is Israeli as well (to provide a majority for Israelis).
 
The Executive Committee. This committee is in charge of the management and daily activities
of the World Fellowship. The executive committee is composed of a chairman, who is in fact
the president of the Central Committee ( an Israeli) who is elected to his position by the national
committee, 3 vice chairmen who are not Israelis, a secretary and a treasurer, who are Israelis,
and 14 members, at least half of whom are Israelis. The foreign members are usually chosen from
the larger and more active chapters of the organization, located in the United States, Europe,
Australia and South Africa. Among the roles of the managing committee are the following:
1.Publicity of local and World Fellowship newsletters.
2.Sending representatives abroad in order to promote the purposes and goals of
the World Fellowship and provide information about Israel.
3.Organization of programs for hosting foreign doctors in Israel in a varity of frameworks.
4.Organization of the regional and international convention of the World Fellowship.
The World Council of the World Fellowship. All foreign representatives of the World Fellowship
and the Israeli representatives, who attend the international convention are included in the council.
The World Council of the World Fellowship convenes every two to three years during the
international conventions of the Israel Medical Association, under the sponsorship of the
Central Committee of the Israel Medical Association. The Central Committee of the Israel Medical
Association is charged with implementing the decisions of the Council at the closing of the
International Convention.
 
The Consulting Committee of the World Fellowship. The Consulting Committee's duty is to
organize and manage the International Convention, whose Israeli and non-Israeli members are
elected by the various chapters or organizations.
 
Financing. The main sources of funds for activities are the membership dues from the various
chapters. The fee of at least $25.00 from each member is collected on an annual basis. The fee
is collected at the chapter level, and is used by the chapter to support its activities or is
sent directly to Israel. The subscription fees for the Israel Medical Association publications
and the advertising, contributions, and grants are also used for funding the varied activities
of the World Fellowship.
 
Chapters. Countries where the membership rolls exceed the 30's or 40's are allowed to form
chapters. The functions of the chapters are to stay in touch with the World Fellowship office
in Israel; to publicize information about events in Israel and its health system; to collect
membership dues and assist the Israel Medical Association in its collaborative projects in
Israel and to host Israeli doctors who go abroad with the purpose of continuing their studies
