International Relations

   International Assemblies:
Once every three years, members representing various countries join an international assembly held in Israel. Generally, beside scientific sessions, the assemblies include social events, tours and trips throughout Israel. By attending these meetings, members of the World Fellowship can stay updated in recent developments in the medical field in Israel, and locate issues that require financial resources or problems that may be solved with their assistance. At the same time, they have an opportunity to travel around Israel, be acquainted with the country and its people, and create professional and social relationships with Israeli colleagues and with other participants. In addition, regional meetings also provide an opportunity to meet colleagues.

   Hospitality:
Ever since its inception, the World Fellowship has been deeply involved in the development of relationships and connections with members and non-member doctors visiting Israel, realizing the importance of personal relations between physicians abroad and in Israel. The World Fellowship hosts doctors who write in advance or introduce themselves upon arrival in Israel. Much attention is paid to their questions and interest, and information is supplied regarding the medical system in Israel, medical and scientific conventions and assemblies, sponsored visits to hospitals and medical institutions, meetings with Israeli doctors and more. Many doctors have been welcomed as volunteers in the past, and have been invited as guest lecturers in hospitals and other medical institutions throughout Israel. Furthermore, the World Fellowship hosted groups of doctors from a variety of countries, for professional tours, meetings with their Israeli counterparts, and in sponsored medical or scientific conventions. In recent years, an Exchange Program was established by the World Fellowship, and in its framework, members and non-members of the World Fellowship are hosted by Israeli hospitals and participate in a kind of "fellowship study-volunteer program” up to a period of six months. The programs have afforded many members with an opportunity to enjoy a visit, combining studies and professional work with touring and getting acquainted with Israel. The World Fellowship regards these guests as goodwill representatives of Israel, of the World Fellowship and of the Israel Medical Association. Following their visit to Israel, many visitors joines the World Fellowship and many others expressed their appreciation for the kind hospitality of the World Fellowship. The World Fellowship also provides funding support for tours and presentations of lecturers for the students’ summer exchange program of the Medical Students’ Organization.

   Publications:
In all the years of its existence, until the beginning of the 1990's, the World Fellowship published English, French and Spanish language quarterlies, which were sent to all foreign members. The quarterlies consisted of information regarding the Israeli health system, recent medical accomplishments, and a number of outstanding research projects. In addition, they included general information regarding the activities of the World Fellowship and of its various chapters. Due to financial difficulties, publication of the quarterlies had stopped, and, instead, members receive newsletters, briefly describing current events of the World Fellowship and its chapters and a bulletin of events in Israel.

   Correspondence:
Continuous correspondence with chapter leaders and Jewish members throughout the world has also served to develop and strengthen relationships. The World Fellowship deals with hundreds of letters on an annual basis and engages in constant correspondence in Hebrew and in English with chapters and members throughout the world.
