יליד קוסבו רוסיה Kaunas, Lith, למד רפואה בשוויץ, היגר לארה"ב ב-1917.
עשה התמחות בפנימית בבי"ח MT ZION בסן פרנסיסקו.
חי ועבד בלוס אנג'לס כרופא משפחה. במלחמת השחרור התנדב לעזור, הגיע לארץ, ובשיירה לצפת נורה ונפצע. נפטר בבי"ח בצפת, וקבור בחלקה הישנה בצפת.
בתו, מילדרד, עלתה ארצה עם בעלה וילדיה ב-1970.
לליאו בלאס 2 נכדים בארץ: רוברט - רופא משפחה ברחובות, ומיכאל - פסיכולוג ואיש עסקים בירושלים, ו-8 נינים.

Leo Blass (Isaak Leib Girshov Shlomowitsch) was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, studied medicine in Halle-Wittemberg University Germany in 1902, and Basel, Switzerland, (where he participated in the first Zionist conference!!) and immigrated to the United States in 1907. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco. He lived and worked in Los Angeles as a family doctor from 1910. During Israel’s War of independence he volunteered to assist. His convoy to the city of Tsfat (Safed) was attacked and he was wounded, and he died subsequently in the local hospital. He is buried in the old section of the local military cemetery. His daughter, Mildred, (Malka Naomi Blass Hoffman, RIP) came on Aliyah with her husband and children in 1970. His other two daughters, Betty Steinberg and Eleanor Blumenberg, continue to live in Los Angeles. Leo Blass has two grandchildren in Israel: Dr Michael Hoffman, a psychologist and entrepreneur, lives in Jerusalem, and Dr Robert Hoffman, a Family Physician in Rehovot; and three grandchildren (on the Hoffman branch) overseas: Dr David Hoffman (RIP, Los Angeles), Lane Hoffman lives in Rotterdam, Holland, and Jon Hoffman lives in San Francisco. On the Hoffman branch Leo has 15 great-grandchildren (7 in Israel ) and 5 great great grandchildren. The Steinberg branch has 3 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as does the Blumenberg branch.
