November 2017 Issue Summary

The health and medical systems around the world are undergoing an accelerated revolution in the face of a complex fabric of factors and circumstances. Dramatic transformations that are largely driven by the demographic, economic, technological and scientific factors inevitably lead to the development of compatible therapeutic, communication and economic strategies. The shift from disease-based medicine to health-based care, shifting focus from primary care to preventive medicine, from population health individuals and from acute care to chronic care stems primarily from a perceptual upheaval: the patient's center-of-health approach as a novel approach to replacing the therapist's approach Health.

The resulting transformations necessitate a re-alignment of theories in the health economy. Medical innovation has brought the world of medicine to the forefront in diagnostics and treatment, from the human genome mapping and personalized medicine project to remote surgery.

In the meantime, the media and technological revolution is fundamentally changing the possibilities of information processing and analysis, especially in the medical fields. The health system develops information systems with tremendous potential for information transfer and medical information control, although the same medical, media and technological innovation presents far-reaching possibilities in the areas of information availability to the patient, which is constantly exposed to a flood of medical information that is not always accurate or correct.

Developing the quality of care in tandem with the challenge of coping with the rising costs of the health and medical system necessitates a streamlining and continuous improvement of the system and new developments. The field of research is the basis for those new developments that meet the needs and changes affecting the world of medicine and health.

The 13th Annual Conference in Military Medicine Research at the Medical Corps is being held this year in collaboration with the University of Ariel in Samaria, and is a direct continuation of the momentum of promoting academic research between the scientific community in general and Ariel in particular and the Medical Corps.

We consider this dialogue an essential tool for the scientific advancement of the fields of medicine and health in Israel.
